Managing Digital Document and Archives for Effective Record Keeping (Online Training)

The evolving nature of society brought a growing demand for e-resources in the workplace and practitioners in the library and information management industry. Organisations and Government departments are supposed to meeting this demand by providing effective access to pertinent information resources and services. Many organisations and government departments are using digital document archiving to store securely and easily retrieve documents. With effective document archiving, organisations and government departments can scan and upload both typed and hand-written documents onto a computer system.Companies face a range of issues regarding information production and retention due to the growing volume of electronic information, greater regulatory constraints and storage issues. Companies are confronted with technical, financial and educational challenges when trying to implement an electronic archiving solution.
This course will provide delegates with an in-depth understanding of processes and methodologies involves in creation, evaluation, collection, organization, exploitation and dissemination of digital artifacts and records for instant access to information, faster response to queries, print or email copy documents on demand and audit trails for every document.

NQF Level 5, with 5 credits towards a Higher Certificate in Management. A Competency certificate can be earned, subject to successful completion of the POE/ Assessment in the specified period stipulated at the event. If a participant chooses not to complete the assessment, he/she will receive a certificate of attendance only.

    Dr Hlungwani is a records management specialist. His 20 years of expertise includes areas of Records Management, Registry, Mailroom, Imaging and Archiving. Shadrack served as a Chairperson of the South African Records Managers Forum for 3 years. His records management career stretches over a wide spectrum of employment at government departments and in the private sector. Highlights of his career includes his employment at the Department of Agriculture (DoA) where he compiled a File Plan which was approved by the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa. During his service at the DTi he was responsible for the management of their File Plans and implemented their Records Management User Manual, where he was responsible for implementation and training of the records management system. Dr Hlugwani is a frequent guest on SABC-MLFM radio addressing various topics on Records Management. He trained organizations such as SASSA, DST, Agriculture, DPW, National Lotteries Board, ICD, Department Health-North West amongst others on Registry, Mailroom, Imaging, Archiving and Records Management
